The Odd Beginning of B

Vivi fell to the ground gasping and wincing from what little of the fire that was on Lorne touched her patting at her cloak and thankful she wore it as she coughed holding her throat. She scrambled for the bracelet clutching it to her breast as she looked up to see Lorne going after the witch pushing more magic into the illusion to try and keep the woman cowering
He collapsed when the witch was dead, the fire still threatening to burn him alive. “Vivi, the bracelet stroke it" He gasped, as he gave into the injuries and passed out next to the mutilated body of the witch.
She held the bracelet and stroked it like a cat while she caught her breath still coughing a bit
Lorn did nothing but the fire that threatened to consume and kill him died away as she stroked the bracelet at last. He was burnt all over, skin pealing in some places and bald spots on his wings from feather loss. He was barley breathing
Vivi rushed over to Lorne looking him over “Shit...Lorne!" She put the bracelet on and tried to move him but he was too heavy. Finally holding him as she began hopping from spot to spot with him, each time the pair burst into golden leaves as they disappeared and reappeared, getting them away from the witches house and near town before Vivi collapsed exhausted beside Lorn in the woods.
As she came to rest there was warmth from the bracelet and it changes shape to wrap more fully around her writs. It soon started changing colours landing on a shining purple, Vivi’s favorite color at that moment. Lorn groaned gasping for air still.
*** Sometime Later ***
When Vivi next woke she was in the infirmary in Wendy’s Tavern, a red head human looking her over "Boy what the hell, where you two up to. Him burnt to shit and you passed out?" She asked in her souther drawl
Vivi blinked and groaned before rolling and sitting up holding her head "what the hell....where are we?" she glanced at the woman still looking out of it
Suz smiled gently pushing her to lay back "You are in the Infirmary in the basement of Wendy's Tavern my dear." She told the woman "Now lay back, you need to rest" she coaxed her gently. She then moved to continue to wrap Lorn's burn flesh with cold wet dressings covered in some salve that stank. She then brought some water for Vivi to drink “Here love have something to drink" she says "Your friend is burnt pretty bad”
Vivi laid back as Suz nudged her and sighed “The infirmary? I've been to Wendy’s a million times and I never knew this was here....she was holding out on me" She smirked despite feeling like hell then glanced to the side watching the woman wrap Lorne’s wings “Is he going to be okay?" She looked at him worriedly feeling like shed failed him slightly letting him get so hurt
Suz nodded "He seems to have self healing abilities so he will heal himself in time. The salve will just help him along really. I don't have any magic so just everyday first aid for you two." She told her and smiled to Vivi "yha, I think Wendy told me it was some new addition before she hired me" She smiled kindly. The bracelet beginning to warm up on Vivi’s writs after being ignore for so long.
Vivi listened and sighed in relief laying back on the bed closing her eyes and nodding while she listened. The bracelet heated up until it was actually painful making her wake up again and yelp sitting up "OW! holy fuck!" She looked at her hand, forgetting about the bracelet until then and pulled on it…”What the hell?” She finally remembered to pet it and sat back rubbing the bracelet quickly more like she was trying to polish it but wanting to make the pain stop quickly
Suz startled hearing the woman call out "Is everything ok?" she asked Vivi, pausing in what she was doing to look over at her. The bracelet of course would cool down as Vivi pet it
Vivi blinked looking at Suz and sighing "yeah...just...hurt my wrist" She held up her hand to explain “I’m good....just help him...ignore me" She smirked and lay back down
Suz nodded and went back to patching up the passed out Lorn. "You know I doubt your friend here will be awake until tomorrow. If you like after I patch you up you can go stay in one of the rooms upstairs" She offered
Vivi listened and nodded “I’m good here for now...but maybe later"
She sighed finally finished her work with Lorn "Well I'm done with him for now, did you want something to eat or drink since I'm going to grab a few things from upstairs anyways?" She asked Vivi.
Vivi smiled moving to get up once more “If you’re going to go get food then I’ll come with you” she told Suz
Suz sighed and nodded "I was going to bring the food back down to you but all right missy, if you insist. So what's the tail with angel wings there. He your boy friend or something?" She asked Vivi
Vivi shook her head and glanced at Lorne “No...we just met yesterday. I helped him leave his master that's all"
